Required High School Curriculum/College Prep Curriculum

The Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) is a University System of Georgia (USG) requirement that students successfully complete the following high school units:

  • 4 units of English
  • 4 units of mathematics
  • 4 units of science
  • 3 units of social science
  • 2 units of the same foreign language, or 2 units of American Sign Language, or 2 units of computer science

Students that have deficiencies in the RHSC will need to successfully complete the courses at KSU within the first 30 credit hours attempted. Holds are placed at the end of each semester on students until they successfully complete their RHSC requirement(s). If a student does not address the deficiencies within the first 30 credit hours, then the student may not register for other courses, unless they also register for the appropriate deficiency course or courses. Holds will not be removed until the student has successfully completed the course(s).

Below are the deficiencies and courses that will satisfy the requirements.

For additional questions on fulfilling your RHSC requirement, please see your Academic Advisor.

USG information on Addressing RHSC Deficiencies, 3.1.1.3 Exceptions to Freshmen Requirements

If a student does not address the deficiencies within the first 30 credit hours, then the student may not register for other courses, unless they also register for the appropriate deficiency course or courses. Successful completion (“C” or better) of a three credit collegiate course in the appropriate subject area demonstrates collegiate-level preparedness and is sufficient for satisfying an RHSC deficiency in that subject area.
