Sustainable Transportation Resources

The Office of Sustainability strongly advocates and promotes all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to utilize sustainable transportation options. This follows KSU’s prioritization to reduce drive-alone rates to decrease parking demand and aim for a thoughtful, multimodal campus future. Sustainable Transportation supports:

  • Enhancement of existing bike/pedestrian connectivity within the campus
  • Prioritization of safe bike and pedestrian connections among campus districts

Alternate modes of travel are a strategy involving shifts from driving alone to walking, biking, carpooling, public transit, ridesharing, and/or commuting in hybrid or electric vehicles (EVs).

Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure

Kennesaw State University offers several on-campus electric vehicle charging options. Please view and explore our GIS Interactive Map to find a convenient charging location nearest to you.

Micromobility Registration

Micromobility devices like e-bikes and scooters are welcome at Kennesaw State University! To keep our campus community safe, there are important rules and regulations that must be followed. It is important that everyone on campus, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors, follow these guidelines to prevent injuries, accidents, and property damage.

Micromobility Rules and Regulations

All students, faculty, and staff are strongly encouraged to register their bicycles, scooters, and other micromobility devices.

Safety

Safety is a shared responsibility across our campus community. Whether you're walking, biking, riding a scooter, or using public transit, following these guidelines helps create a safer and more sustainable campus for everyone.

Micromobility and Transit Safety Tips

  • Yield to pedestrians, wheelchair users, and vehicles when operating bicycles, scooters, skateboards, or other micromobility devices.
  • Share sidewalks and pathways respectfully with pedestrians, golf carts, wheelchairs, and other micromobility users.
  • Follow all posted "Share the Road" and "Dismount Zone" signage.
  • Maintain a safe speed and leave plenty of space between yourself and others, especially during inclement weather.
  • Stay alert and aware of your surroundings, particularly when boarding or exiting transit and when locking or unlocking your micromobility device.
  • Avoid using cell phones or headphones while riding to ensure you can remain aware of nearby pedestrians, vehicles, and potential hazards.
  • Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding bicycles, scooters, and other micromobility devices.
  • Help protect campus landscapes by avoiding the creation of "desire paths." Ride only on designated roads, sidewalks, and paved surfaces to prevent erosion, soil compaction, and damage to grass and landscaping.

Public Transit Courtesy

  • Allow passengers to exit Big Owl Bus and CobbLinc buses before boarding.
  • Use headphones when listening to music or videos while riding public transit to help create a comfortable experience for all passengers.

Additional Bicycle Safety Resources

Explore these resources from the League of American Bicyclists to learn more about safe and responsible riding:
