Earth Week 2024
Earth Week is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices for students. The KSU’s Office of Sustainability organizes events across both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses, with the purpose of educating and engaging students with best practices for the community. On Earth Week, we promote fairs, volunteer initiatives like the KSU Food Forest Volunteer Day, and educational experiences such as the Maple Syrup Taste Test. Our week is dedicated to educating students, faculty, and the community about environmental issues.
Falling Leaves Festival
The Falling Leaves Festival is an annual celebration of sustainability held during the fall. It's organized by the eco-friendly student organizations, who come together to promote environmental awareness and engage the KSU community. The festival provides a platform for sustainable Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) to connect with attendees, offering opportunities for networking and education about their initiatives.

Syrup Workshop
At the Maple Syrup Workshop, our students can learn about the process of tapping maple trees and creating syrup, providing a practical, hands-on educational experience at the KSU Field Station. The event is a true celebration of nature, community, and the spirit of collaboration.
Arboretum Walk
Established in 1976, the Arboretum preserves the original forested area of the University. Our knowledgeable guided walks happen recurrently and give the students an opportunity to learn about this native ecosystem.

Daffodil Planting
The Daffodil Project is more than just planting flowers; it's about remembering the lives lost during the Holocaust and learning from history, raising awareness and providing support for children facing crises while building community.
Equinox Pathway Career Panel & Showcase
The event gathers students and professionals to explore dynamic fields of sustainability, with the chance to learn about exciting career pathways and connect with representatives from leading companies. Students and attendees engage in meaningful conversation and explore potential sustainable career paths.

Green Ambassadors Program
The Green Ambassador program offers students passionate about sustainability a unique opportunity to volunteer by speaking to classes, offering tours, and hosting informational tables on sustainability topics. This program is a great way to deepen your knowledge of environmental issues while also developing valuable professional skills. If you're ready to make an impact and gain experience, we invite you to join us and become a Green Ambassador today! Email sustainableKSU@kennesaw.edu to join.
Green Office Certification
Are you ready to make your office more environmentally friendly? The Green Office Certification Program is a voluntary, self-guided initiative aimed at promoting sustainable practices within Kennesaw State University. This program places a strong emphasis on conserving energy and water, reducing waste through recycling, hosting sustainable events, and fostering a healthier work environment.
By participating in this program, KSU workplaces can not only reduce waste but also enjoy significant cost savings through practical sustainability measures. Collaborating with the Office of Sustainability (OOS), offices across the University are encouraged to assess their current practices and establish a timeline and action plan for achieving Green Office certification. Throughout this journey, the Office of Sustainability will be there to offer tools, support and guidance every step of the way.
If you have any questions about this program, please email us at sustainableKSU@kennesaw.edu.
Not ready to commit to the certification but would like to start with a compost bucket in your breakroom? You can read more about our Break Room Composting Program, or email us at recycle@kennesaw.edu.
