Digital Health

The Digital Health research track, led by Assistant Professor of Information Technology Dr. Nazmus Sakib and comprising 25 faculty members from the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, and the College of Computing and Software Engineering, directly addresses critical gaps in current agitation monitoring approaches for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD). It employs micro-doppler-radar-based, AI-driven sensing to detect physiological and behavioral markers of agitation, such as heart rate, respiration, erratic movement, and sleep disruption.
