Jillianne Larkin: Community Outreach & Housing Stability Internship

KENNESAW, Ga. | Jul 8, 2026

Strengthening Metro Atlanta communities through nonprofit outreach and mental health advocacy.

Tell us about your role.

During my internship with Allies Inc., I built and maintained a nonprofit outreach tracker that supports housing stability and strengthens community partnership development. I conducted professional outreach to organizations across the region and documented referral pathways, eligibility requirements, and follow‑up recommendations. I also supported volunteer recruitment and helped develop partnership pipelines for mission‑driven nonprofit programming.

How did KSU help you get where you are now or prepare you for the future?

KSU has provided me with numerous opportunities and resources to excel and grow in both my professional and academic careers — from workshops to scholarships to job opportunities.

What life skills did KSU help you develop for long‑term success?

Attending workshops that helped me perfect my résumé and interview skills played an essential role in being selected for internships that support my career path.

How do you feel this experience will help you pursue your future career dreams?

I plan to work in the mental healthcare field providing counseling, with a focus on impoverished communities. Through my internship with Allies Way Inc., I’ve been able to discuss how housing and food insecurity impact mental health. I work to find assistance for individuals affected by these challenges through organizations in the Metro Atlanta area.
