Jessica Okafor: CNN & TNT Sports Inclusion Internship at Warner Bros. Discovery

Tell us about your role. 

As a CNN & TNT Sports Inclusion Intern, I collect and synthesize data for the planning of summer diversity journalism conventions, partner with internal communications to send out monthly newsletters, and provide support on initiatives and projects within Inclusion. My semester-long project involves curating a pitch panel discussion on intercultural sensitivity for employee engagement. 

How did KSU help you get there?

KSU helped prepare me to achieve my goals by cultivating an environment where I am able to explore new interests, uphold leadership opportunities, and take on challenges, all to immensely shape an authentic version of myself. 

What life skills did you develop at KSU? 

To incredibly and audaciously take on opportunities and experiences that I may not consider pursuing at first, but upon having perseverance and grit, such experiences will not only unlock new pathways, but it greatly enhances one's personal and professional stories in life.

What advice would you give fellow KSU Owls? 

Be unconditionally enthusiastic and driven to reach your goals. When envisioning your future self, use each day to soak in the little moments and opportunities that will eventually form into grand accomplishments for your goals. Along the way, take the time to truly be kind to yourself and others.
