Event Executive at Octagon Launching her sports industry career on the national stage.
I’ll be responsible for supporting the planning, on‑the‑ground leadership, and execution of experiential marketing programs in Seattle, with a primary focus on the Stadium Fan Experience, the FIFA Fan Festival, and market activations. I’ll oversee some of the Brand Ambassadors during activations, which will include former U.S. Men’s National Team players.
I would not be in the position that I am right now if not for the KSU Sport Management program and all of the amazing professors. Even the Sport Management professors I didn’t take classes with were always so kind and supportive of me and other students. The work inside and out of the classroom that my professors showed me is a contributing factor to landing a job immediately after graduation. They taught me such a broad range of skills that I can apply in this industry and that allows me to effectively market myself to prospective employers.
The preparedness I felt from my professors allowed me to be confident in spaces where I was the only student in a room filled with CEOs and industry professionals.

KSU helped me develop the willingness to approach others, which is immensely important in the sports industry. It can feel hard being at such a large university, but through the programming many departments hosted, I found myself creating relationships and thriving in unfamiliar environments.
KSU’s supportive campus environment played a huge role in my success. OwlFit, Career Planning and Development, Counseling Services, Nutrition Services, and the Writing Center all contributed to my growth. Being so close to Atlanta’s major sports organizations also enriched my experience and opened doors I never expected.
For any students wanting to work in the sports industry: network all the time, and then some! Leverage your status as a student because more often than not, people are willing and want to help you. Go to the panels and events, talk to unfamiliar people, dress professionally, have an updated LinkedIn, and send follow‑up messages after events. It also helps to be approachable, be willing to learn, be well prepared and knowledgeable, and to think beyond the basics.
My motto during my final semesters at KSU was: Say yes (and stay late), apply yourself, and always give your best effort.
