Become a Certified Teacher 100% Online: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) or Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

Paraprofessionals are one of the greatest sources of future teachers. KSU offers flexible, fully online pathways that allow paraprofessionals to earn teacher certification while continuing to work in schools — creating opportunities for career advancement while helping districts strengthen and grow their teacher pipeline.

  • KSU offers two pathways so paraprofessionals at different stages of their education can begin their journey to teacher certification:

  • Parapros can meet these requirements through flexible, school-based options such as:

    • Completing field experiences in the classroom where paras are assigned - when the grade band aligns - helps maintain consistency for principals and students
    • Working with a different grade band during planning periods
    • Completing observation or practice hours during “specials”
    • Switching temporarily with another paraprofessional
    • Participating in short, scheduled rotations within the same building

This approach keeps paraprofessionals working in their current roles while ensuring full compliance with P–5 requirements - a major advantage for both districts and candidates. Check with your school/district for approved options.

  • KSU programs are built around the realities of school schedules, offering:

    • 100% Online coursework
    • Year-round course progression
    • Dedicated advising from entry through certification

This structure ensures that paraprofessionals can grow professionally without stepping away from their roles

  • KSU minimizes administrative burden through:

    • Collaboration with schools and districts to support paraprofessionals
    • Clear communication about field placement expectations
    • Aligning programs with school district needs
  • Paraprofessionals already know your students, curriculum, and community. Supporting their advancement:

    • Boosts retention
    • Grows internal talent pipelines
    • Increases long-term staffing stability
