For those who have been at KSU more than eight years, you have seen the university rapidly evolve into a much more research-focused institution and the funding landscape change in response.

For example, we can offer guidance on applying for NSF funding without RUI status. We can also help you establish a professional academic online presence that emphasizes your research skills, not just your research interests, which is more important than ever in the middle of your career. Seed funding can provide a major boost to your research efforts, so we urge you to read about our seed grants and apply through InfoReady. 

At this point in your career, you might need to acquire new capital equipment that will expand your capabilities, productivity, and marketability as a collaborator.

Consider applying to the NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program (MRI) through our limited submission application, anticipated to be posted on InfoReady several months prior to the NSF deadline.

If you temporarily stepped away from full-time research, you may want to pursue resources to assist your transition back.

Funding agencies offer various opportunities to facilitate the transition back to full-time research. For example, NSF offers NSF Mid Career Advancement (MCA) and NSF RARE. NIH offers supplements such as Research Continuity Supplements and Re-entry, Re-integration, and Re-training Supplements. Additionally, KSU has a Tenured Faculty Enhancement Program.

Research is increasingly becoming a team science. We can help you find collaborators with complementary expertise and recruit students and post-docs to build your research team. Our interdisciplinary research communities are a great starting point.
