About the Initiative

Owl Trek Site Visits serve as a gateway for career exploration, allowing participants to immerse themselves in different industries and connect with potential employers. By observing professionals in their daily work, students gain practical insights that go beyond classroom learning. Visits also foster meaningful networking opportunities, helping students establish relationships that can support their future career development.

Answers to Some of Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

  • Any employer can host students in a non-home location. KSU offers more than 150 majors and a diverse group of students with different career aspirations, which opens doors for all employers in various industries to participate in the program.
  • Site Visits are open to anywhere from 6 - 25 students. We will work with you to plan accordingly for hosting based on student registration.
  • You are responsible for coordinating a schedule for the visit and introducing the attendees to the various facets of your profession. The schedule can include showing them what a typical day at your job consists of, a tour of the organization, attending meetings, a networking lunch with staff, and/or answering questions about your career field and work environment.

There are no associated costs to hosting, unless you would like to provide lunch to your attendees.

There is no expectation that you or your office to provide transportation, but in the event a student chooses to travel to your location independently, your office should provide parking or a location nearby for guests to park.

Please keep in mind that Owl Trek Site Visits are meant to be a learning opportunity and a chance for our students to gain valuable exposure to potential career fields of interest and work environments, while also an opportunity for you to showcase your organization and introduce students to your industry.

  •  Site Visits are typically 2-4 hours, but employers can have a maximum 5 hours hosting students.
