Employer FAQs

  • Each person who would like to post jobs or access student information to recruit KSU students must create an “Employer User” account. Visit Handshake to create a free account by following the checklist in the order displayed to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.

  • All recruiters must:

    1. Enter your first and last name in Handshake, use your work or company email address (not Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
    2. Provide an active website that matches the domain of your company or organization.
    3. Enter the name of your company, the physical address of the company that is listed on the business license, an active company phone number, and complete the Employer Validation steps. This information is not shared with potential candidates because this is the “Company Profile” information.
    4. List duties, tasks, outcomes, and/or responsibilities in a job description, or provide a link to the full job posting on your corporate website for candidates to apply online.
    1. Click Jobs from the left navigation bar on the home page of Handshake.
    2. Locate the job posting you want to duplicate by using the “clear filter” or status “closed” filter, then click the three-dot menu icon at the end of the job posting row.
    3. Select Duplicate from the dropdown and then “Edit” as needed.
    4. Learn more about Navigating the Posting Page.
  • After you post an active job in Handshake, the system will “recommend” candidates to apply or attend events that match their profile criteria and areas of interest. Complete as many areas as possible on the job form and/or event request for best promotion to candidates. You can also reach out to our team at careerplanning@kennesaw.edu for additional engagement options.
  • There are many ways to get the most of your posting.  Here are some suggestions:

    1. Include specific skills, responsibilities, duties and tasks, or outcomes in your job description.
    2. Indicate if you offer any benefits that may set your position apart from others that are similar. Think about “perks” you provide, if your business is close to public transportation, or if you offer options for personal and professional growth – these can be included within the job description to attract student interest.
    3. Complete your company profile and include social media links so potential candidates can research your organization and company culture.
    4. Consider registering to participate in job fairs, hosting a campus recruiting event, or engaging with student groups
    5. Contact us at careerplanning@kennesaw.edu if you would like additional recommendations.
  • Yes, please review Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Compliance Policy and KSU Recruitment Policies and Procedures for job posting guidelines, and consider the following options:

    1. The Sentinel (KSU’s online edition of the campus newspaper) offers third-party free classifieds through their website.
    2. KSU Community and Professional Education provides a resource for Potential Employers to Submit a Job Opportunity using DocuSign PowerForm.

    * Right of Refusal – Any company or organization seeking to recruit at KSU must register for a Handshake account through The Department of Career Planning & Development (DCPD). If a representative of an organization fails to comply with DCPD's Recruitment Policies and Procedures and NACE Principles for Ethical Professional Practice; access to some or all CPD services may be declined or revoked. Final approval to use KSU facilities and services for the purposes of recruitment rests with the Leadership of CPD.

    * NO SOLICITATION POLICY – The Department of Career Planning does not give permission to any organization, or individual, to distribute materials of any kind throughout campus.

  • We require all recruiters to post open positions  in Handshake before requesting other on-campus recruitment through our department for approval.
  • Please review criteria for hosting on-campus recruiting options at KSU and then submit a request in Handshake at least 4+ weeks prior to the date you want to come to campus. This allows time for our team to review and confirm space availability on campus and to promote your visit to KSU students. Please also review our Important Dates on a regular basis.
  • Please Request an Interview Schedule through Handshake so that our Employer Relations team can review your request and confirm space availability for you.
  • Please review our Important Dates to plan your recruiting efforts at Kennesaw State University.
