On April 1, 2026, Kennesaw State University proudly celebrated a remarkable group of faculty and staff at our annual Retirement Ceremony. Held at KSU Center, this meaningful event brought together colleagues, leadership, and loved ones to recognize the lasting contributions of those who have helped shape our institution.
This year, we honored 56 retirees whose years of service ranged from 5 to 38 years, representing more than 1,000 years of combined dedication to KSU and the University System of Georgia. Their impact is woven into the fabric of our university, from classrooms and research to operations and student support.
The morning began with a special “Find Your Brick” gathering at the Legacy Gazebo, followed by a breakfast reception and formal program. Opening remarks from Vice President of Human Resources and CHRO, Karen McDonnell, and inspiring words from President Kathy S. Schwaig set the tone, highlighting the profound influence each retiree has had on students, colleagues, and the continued growth of the university.
Throughout the ceremony, each retiree was recognized individually, with reflections on their careers, accomplishments, and the personal impact they made along the way. From decades of academic leadership and mentorship to behind-the-scenes operational excellence, their stories reflected a shared commitment to collaboration, innovation, and service.
As President Schwaig shared during her remarks, the opportunities available to KSU students today exist because of the dedication and vision of those we honored. While this milestone marks the close of one chapter, it also signals the beginning of new journeys filled with possibility.
We were also reminded that retirement does not mean goodbye. Through the Kennesaw State University Retirees Association, many of our retirees will remain connected to the university community, continuing to engage, support, and inspire future generations.
To our retirees - thank you for your years of service, your passion, and the legacy you leave behind. You have helped make KSU what it is today, and your impact will be felt for years to come.
Congratulations, and best wishes in this next chapter.
