      Using Rubrics for Grading Assessments
      1:00pm

Have you used rubrics for your online assessments before? Have you been frustrated using the rubrics tool in D2L? Do you know that rubrics can improve student performance by providing clarity on student expectations?

In the webinar “Using Rubrics for Grading Assessments”, we will talk about two different types of rubrics and why using rubrics can help instructors build a presence in their courses through inbuilt feedback and clear assessment guidelines. We will also take this opportunity to focus on how rubrics can help improve student performance and the quality of student learning and make grading a fair and impartial process. During the webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use the rubrics tool in D2L and how instructors can easily evaluate student work and provide feedback.

Rubrics have proved to reduce grading time for instructors and help provide consistent feedback to students over the long run. If you are interested in using rubrics for an upcoming online class, please attend this 60-minute webinar on April-20 2023, at 2 pm on Teams.

Do you use discussions in your online courses? Or do you totally avoid them because you want to eliminate inane exchanges between students that makes no sense and adds no value to the class or to their learning? Do you think it’s important for students to engage in online discussions, but you are not sure how to proceed? Have you used discussions, but they have not been as effective or engaging? Or you have never really thought about the usefulness of discussions as an engagement and interactive tool in online teaching and learning? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, this webinar is for you.

During the “Using Discussions Effectively in Online Courses” webinar session, we will demonstrate how instructors can effectively include discussions in their online courses, how they can make grading these discussions less of a chore and more of a learning experience for students and how incorporating discussions based on high fidelity topics can add value to learning opportunities for students and help them understand concepts through peer interaction and instructor guidance.
