What should I have done before Express Advising???

Do you have a Registration Hold?
Visit the Registration Holds page to guide you on which department can resolve your Registration Hold, as SPCEET Advisors can only resolve:

  • Advising Holds
  • Learning Support Holds
  • Readmit Advising Holds
  • Academic Warning / Probation Holds

Will a Parent/Guardian be joining you?
Students who want their parent or guardian to join the appointment, please make sure a FERPA release is completed beforehand.

Follow the steps below:
Open up your Owl Express → Click "Student Records" → Click "Student Consent to Disclosure (FERPA Release)". You will fill out all corresponding information there.

Advisors will check that the FERPA release is on file before we can start the meeting. Having it on file beforehand will help speed things up for you and others.

Do you need Engineering Standing?
Download and complete the application for your specific major beforehand! You can find these applications in the "Engineering Standing" tab.

If you need Engineering Standing to pursue a minor, please fill out the Standing Form for Non-Engineering Majors at the bottom of that page.

Types of Appointments

SPCEET advisors offer multiple appointment formats to meet students’ advising needs. Appointments are available virtually, by phone, or in person.

  • Advising appointments are offered in the following formats:

    • Virtual (Microsoft Teams)
    • Phone
    • In-person
      • Engineering Lab Building, Suite (G)-213

    1. Schedule your appointment through Navigate/EAB.
    2. You may also click the “Advisors” tab to the left, select your major, and locate your assigned academic advisor.
    3. Each advisor has an individual Navigate/EAB scheduling link listed under their name.
    4. Follow the instructions below based on the type of appointment you schedule.

  • Virtual Appointments (Microsoft Teams)

    • All virtual advising appointments are held via Microsoft Teams.
    • Download Microsoft Teams or ensure you can log in before your appointment:
      • Available via the Microsoft Teams website or on most mobile platforms
      • Log in using your KSU email and standard NetID credentials
    • Your appointment confirmation email includes the meeting link. Use this link to join at your scheduled time.

    Phone Appointments

    • Advisors will call the phone number listed in Navigate at the scheduled appointment time.
    • Please ensure your contact information is up to date before your appointment.

    Face-to-Face Appointments

    • In-person advising sessions are held in the Engineering Lab Building, Suite (G)-213.
    • Please arrive on time and bring any necessary materials related to your advising needs.
