To declare or change your major, go on your Owl Express account under the "Registration and Student Records" tab. Select "Request Change Degree Program." Complete the online form. Please keep checking your Owl Express transcript. In several days, your transcript will show your major (halfway down the transcript). Scroll down the page further to locate the name of your assigned advisor.

There are no overrides for full classes. You can add your name to the waitlist and you will be notified by email if a seat becomes available.
 

The "reserved closed" error occurs when students attempt to register for a section that begins with 'B' (e.g., HIST 1111/BA or HIST 1111/BWA). These sections are reserved for students participating in Block Scheduling (new incoming first-year students), with limited space allowed for non-block students. If you are a non-block student and you see this error it means the course is full for non-block students and you will need to look for other sections. There are no overrides or waitlist options.

Plan to take core history or philosophy classes (1000 or 2000) during the summer as upper division course offerings (3000 or 4000) are limited. If you need upper division courses, it’s best to plan to enroll in a summer study abroad program that offers your requirement. 

Yes. University policy requires that all official university business be completed using your student email (students.kennesaw.edu) Please check this email frequently for important messages about available courses, enrollment, graduation requirements, and changes to degree programs.

All students should purchase the latest edition of the Chicago Manual of Style commonly known as Turabian. 

Contact the Registrar’s Office and petition to graduate as soon as you think it is possible. The Registrar’s office will complete a degree audit and note any deficiencies in Degree Works. Your advisor can assist you with this evaluation but the petition is the final word.

Your advisor is assigned in Owl Express. Please always contact your advisor to schedule an advising appointment. 

If your advisor is unavailable (e.g., summer semester, short notice) please make an appointment with the RCHSS Undergraduate Advising Center. If you are a junior, remember to schedule an appointment with your advisor before early registration begins.

The Senior Thesis is a capstone experience, which is an option for students needing a writing sample or planning to apply for professional or graduate school. Students meeting the minimum GPA requirements and prerequisites may enroll in one Senior Research Seminar followed by the Senior Thesis in their last year of study. Students must meet minimum GPA requirements and be approved by their advisor and the department before being given permission to enroll. Please see the guidelines and application on our student resources page. Deadlines for application are 1 April and 1 November each year for the following academic term.
