The Interim Associate Director for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is an administrative faculty position, reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. A start date of July 1, 2026, is possible and preferred, but the position will start no later than August 1, 2026.  The interim position will continue until the permanent role is filled, following a search.

The Interim Associate Director for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is responsible for promoting scholarship in the area of teaching and learning in accordance with KSU’s strategic plan goal 1.4.2, “Become a leader in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.” To build on CETL’s national prominence in SoTL, the charge for this position is to help KSU faculty elevate their scholarship. To model the practice of SoTL, this position includes the possibility of teaching one course per year. The Interim Associate Director for SoTL is part of the Leadership Team of CETL and will supervise both the Lead, Educational Development Scholarship and Evaluation and the Faculty Fellow for SoTL. This is a full-time, on-site position. An office will be provided in the CETL house.

Specific duties of the role include:

  • Directing the SoTL Summit Conference
  • Maintaining and promoting the Hopscotch 4-SoTL model and tool
  • Administering the KSU SoTL Scaffold recognition and learning program
  • Maintaining SoTL Microcredentials:
    • Getting Started with SoTL (souvenir)
    • SoTL Fundamentals (level 1)
    • SoTL Research Design (level 1)
  • Directing the SoTL Manuscript Completion Program
  • Directing the SoTL Conference Presentation Funds
  • Managing updates to online resources, including the Teaching Journals and Teaching Conferences directories
  • Publishing the monthly SoTL Listserv and the SoTL Spotlight (in the monthly CETL Scoop)
  • Delivering campuswide SoTL workshops, including custom requests
  • Consulting with individual faculty members (e.g., brainstorming SoTL projects, designing them with the Hopscotch model, consulting on IRB proposals, giving feedback on manuscripts)
  • Supervising the SoTL Fellow and the Lead, Educational Development Scholarship and Evaluation
  • Attending CETL staff meetings and CETL director meetings
  • Contributing to CETL events and activities as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Tenured Associate or Full Professor
  • Record of significant accomplishments in department, college, or university leadership
  • Record of significant scholarly contributions in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Record of excellence in teaching
