Implementing High-Impact Practices

High-impact practices (HIPs) "have been widely tested and have been shown to be beneficial for college students from many backgrounds" (Kuh, 2008, p. 9). The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at KSU has developed these resources for key experiential learning HIPs to aid faculty and administrators in designing their course materials and courses to meet the evidence-based practices associated with each HIP. For each HIP, you will have access to:

  • The definition of the HIP
  • How it aligns with the Eight Key Elements of HIPs as outlined by Kuh and O'Donnell (2013)
  • The documented impact of the HIP
  • A checklist for implementing the HIP at KSU
  • Additional resources
  • A 2-page downloadable/printable version of the information for the HIP
