Get the EDGE at KSU

Kennesaw State University's mission statement conveys its committment to "empower our students to become thought leaders, lifelong learners, and informed global citizens..." In support of that mission the Office of Global Education recognizes what is required to prepare our students during their time at KSU, to enter the world as empowered, globally-minded professionals.

Many of the skills and abilities employers are looking for in today's workplace are attainable through global education experiences. Kennesaw State University offers a variety of departments, offices, and programs that provide and enhance those experiences, to help students make the most of their time in college while gaining the skills and abilities they need to get the EDGE when entering the workforce.

To get the EDGE, students need to:

  • Develop themselves personally and professionally
  • Gain experience inside and outside their field, to put their academic and global knowledge into practice
  • Develop skills in core competencies that enhance their academic pursuits

Simply stated, college graduates need knowledge, experience, skills, and an understanding of self and others to be ready for their careers -- and to be competitive they need to put them into practice through experiences they can highlight when communicating with future employers.

The Experiential Development in Global Education (EDGE) Recognition Program will help students identify experiences that will give them the EDGE, and then reward students for completing them!

Students have two options to get the EDGE:

The EDGE Achievement Award allows a student to focus on completing academic and training experiences that will enhance their degree program and expand their knowledge and skills in globally- and culturally-focused competencies.

The EDGE Impact Award still allows a student to focus on completing academic and training experiences to enhance their degree program and expand their knowledge and skills in globally- and culturally-focused competencies. In addition, it allows a student to be recognized for a high-impact experience, interacting with other cultures and global communities in a longer term through travel, research, and service.

Both awards allow students to gain relevant, powerful experiences that they will benefit from for a lifetime.

Let's get started: The breakdown for each award is listed below. By focusing on at least one experience a semester, students can successfully complete each area, while earning their degree -- and graduate with the EDGE!
