Academic Advising
What is "Drop-In" Advising?
- No appointment necessary.
- Simply arrive during one of the times listed for your advising center and join the waitlist.
- Students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Wait times to see an advisor can vary, so plan accordingly.
- Drop-In hours may change throughout the semester to better accommodate high-traffic advising times.
Advising Appointments Only: November 24–26
Due to limited staffing during Fall Break, advising offices will be available by appointment only from November 24–26. Please note that KSU will be closed November 27–28.

Drop-in advising will resume the week of December 1.

In the top right corner, you will see “Join or create team” button.
- Please click it use the “Join a team with a code” option.

- It should add you to our COTA Virtual Advising Drop-Ins Team
- When you enter the Team, you will notice a “General” chat page.
- We are using this chat page as our sign-in sheet.
- ONLY CHAT ONE TIME PER VISIT.
- Chat the name of your major.
- An advisor will send you an individual chat when you are next in line and ask if you’d like to continue typing back and forth or start a video call.
- If for any reason you need to leave before being helped, please reply to your own chat with “I will come back later.”
- If you do not respond to the advisor individual chat in 3 minutes, the advisor will need to move on to the next student and you will have to put yourself back into the advising queue with a new chat
