Out of State/Country Tuition Waivers

Out-of-State Tuition Waivers for International Students (OSTW) are available only to those fully admitted or enrolled in one of the listed master's programs. Certificates are not eligible for OSTW.

  • Artificial Intelligence (MSAI)
  • Data Science and Analytics (MSDSA)
  • Computer Science (MSCS)
  • Information Technology (MSIT)
  • Software Engineering (MSSWE)
  • Cybersecurity (MSCYBR)

Newly accepted international students can receive OSTW in two ways:

  • Automatic Eligibility – No application is required if you have an undergraduate GPA of 3.7 or higher, either from a domestic transcript or an evaluated international transcript (e.g., a 9.25/10 CGPA from India is equivalent to a 3.7/4 U.S. GPA) and “Fully Accepted” in the qualified program. Automatic waivers are limited and offered on the basis of admission date.
  • Application Process – Students who do not meet the automatic eligibility criteria can apply through the regular application process outlined below.

Regular Application Process

Tuition waivers are awarded based on merit, considering factors such as GPA and other academic achievements. A 4.0 GPA does not guarantee a waiver. Submitting the Tuition Waiver application places you in the applicant pool for consideration. CCSE makes no promises or guarantees that an applicant will be awarded the waiver. You must be prepared to pay the full amount reflected on your Owl Express account by the tuition payment deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Incoming International Graduate Students - Must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher, either from a domestic transcript or an evaluated international transcript (e.g., an 8.13/10 CGPA in India).
  • Current Graduate Students - Must have an overall KSU program GPA of 3.66 or higher.

  • The waiver DOES NOT cover certificate/foundation courses.

  • To retain the OSTW each subsequent semester, you must maintain a 3.66 GPA or higher in your program.
  • The waiver is in place once awarded until one of the following occurs:
    • your cumulative program GPA falls below 3.66
    • you no longer meets the criteria
    • you accept a GRA/GTA position
    • you graduate from the program
