These projects allow students to apply classroom knowledge, strengthen technical and professional skills, and gain valuable experience collaborating with clients in a professional environment.

Capstone/Senior projects are designed to mirror the expectations of the workplace, giving students hands-on experience in project planning, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and delivering solutions that create value for an organization.

Through participation in an industry-sponsored project, students can:

    What the Experience Looks Like

Students work in teams to complete a project provided by an industry partner. Throughout the project, teams:

    • Meet with sponsors to understand project goals and requirements
    • Conduct research and analyze business or technical needs
    • Design, develop, test, and refine solutions
    • Present progress updates and project deliverables
    • Collaborate in a professional team environment
    • Deliver a final solution and presentation to stakeholders

Projects may focus on areas such as:

    • Software Development
    • Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
    • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
    • Cybersecurity
    • IT Infrastructure and Systems
    • Database Design and Development
    • User Experience and Interface Design
    • Emerging Technologies and Innovation

Employers consistently seek candidates who can demonstrate practical experience alongside academic achievement. Industry-sponsored capstone projects help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace by providing opportunities to solve authentic problems, work with clients, and produce tangible results.

For many students, the capstone experience becomes one of the most valuable examples they can highlight on their resume, portfolio, LinkedIn profile, and during job interviews.
