In the fall of 2022, we launched our doctoral program in Computer Science. A cross-college effort, including the departments of Computer Science, Information Technology and Software Engineering, this rigorous Ph.D. blends the highest level of theory and practice, using state-of-the-art computing technologies to meet current and projected market demands for Computer Science experts in academia, industry and government.
During the course of the four-year, full-time program, students can tailor their research to their professional goals as either tenure-track professors or industry leaders. While the program focuses on the applied research needs for cutting-edge industry innovation, our graduates who plan to teach and run university research labs find this hands-on approach broadens their own opportunities.
Students also enjoy flexibility with their choice of subject matter expertise. The program leverages our existing research clusters and curriculum in the areas of artificial intelligence, data engineering/science, computer and network security, information technology, software engineering, game design, cybersecurity, and quantum computing, all of which are in high demand across the country.
We look forward to seeing your applications and supporting you as you engage computer
science research, develop advanced projects, and work alongside industry during internships
and partnerships.

studies and early academic career, I balanced research, teaching, and mentorship while
contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications. These experiences strengthened
my ability to develop AI-driven solutions for real-world problems and ultimately led
to my admission to the Ph.D. program. I consider this achievement especially meaningful
because it reflects years of consistent effort and continuous learning.
