Prepare Your Graduation Requirements

Each student is expected to meet the Graduation Academic Policies section of the appropriate KSU Catalog. For undergraduate students, the graduation policy page may be found in the Graduation Requirements page of the KSU Undergraduate Catalog. For M.A.T. students, the graduation policy page may be found in the Graduation Requirements page of the KSU Graduate Catalog.

Graduation from an initial teacher preparation program requires that the student at least attempt the GACE Content exams associated with their degree field. Passing scores are required for certification by the PSC. All upper-level course work requires a grade of “C” or better and there must be a successful completion of all field experiences.

A degree is granted by Kennesaw State University upon completion of all university and program requirements while meeting minimum requirements. Individuals completing a program in education that prepares teachers at the baccalaureate level (M.A.T. information is located just below the baccalaureate level information), and petitioning KSU for a degree, are expected to have met the following requirements:

    1. Grades of “C” or higher in all Field of Study areas with teaching field and professional education course work.
    2. Grade of “B” or higher in a designated Exceptional Child course (i.e., INED 3304, INED 3300, HPE 3350, ARED 3308, or MUED 3308) taken to fulfill the Georgia HB671 - Education of the Child with Exceptionalities requirement, as set forth by the GaPSC.  
    3. 2.50 institutional adjusted GPA at Kennesaw State University.
    4. Maintenance of a current GaPSC issued Pre-Service Certificate.
    5. Responsible professional behavior in all classes, field experiences, and interactions with peers and faculty.
    6. Acceptable dispositions as determined by program faculty.
    7. Attempted all GACE Assessments, aligned with the field and concentration(s), as required by the GaPSC for program completion.  Attempts must be made by November 15 for Fall degree completion, April 15 for Spring degree completion or July 1 for Summer degree completion.
    8. Successful completion of the Yearlong Clinical Experience (YCE) while demonstrating the achievement of program and unit outcomes and proficiencies through the following: The entire YCE experience unless otherwise stated by the program area.

    9. Some degree programs in teacher education have additional requirements for program completion. It is the candidate’s responsibility to consult those departments and program advisors. 
       

Individuals completing an M.A.T. program in education, and petitioning KSU for this degree, are expected to have met the following requirements:

    1. 3.0 institutional adjusted GPA at Kennesaw State University.
    2. Grade of “B” or higher in a designated Exceptional Child course taken to fulfill the Georgia HB671 - Education of the Child with Exceptionalities requirement, as set forth by the GaPSC (i.e., INED 6400 or both INED 7710 and INED 7650 for the Special Education concentration).
    3. Maintenance of a current GaPSC issued Pre-Service Certificate.
    4. Responsible professional behavior in all classes, field experiences, and interactions with peers and faculty.
    5. Acceptable dispositions as determined by program faculty.
    6. Attempted all GACE Assessments, aligned with the field and concentration(s), as required by the GaPSC for program completion. Attempts must be made by November 15 for Fall degree completion, April 15 for Spring degree completion or July 1 for Summer degree completion.

NOTE: Posting of the degree, from the teacher education program, is required for processing of Georgia PSC teacher certification paperwork. Application for GaPSC certification must be made within five years of degree completion. Delaying application beyond five years may result in additional course work or exam requirements to demonstrate that the candidate meets current knowledge requirements.
