Modernizing KSU's Technology Infrastructure for a Sustainable Future (Campus Email Sent Feb. 26, 2026)
Dear Faculty and Staff,
To strengthen the University’s technology foundation and better support the campus community, Kennesaw State University is launching a multi‑year initiative to modernize the technology systems that support teaching, learning, research, and daily operations. Many of our current systems run on aging, campus‑based equipment that has become increasingly difficult and costly to maintain.
To enhance security, improve reliability, and support long‑term sustainability, University Information Technology Services (UITS) will begin transitioning applications to cloud‑based hosting, meaning they will operate on secure, managed computer systems that are not located on campus. These systems will be hosted on Microsoft’s Azure platform, which provides modern, highly protected, and scalable technology designed to meet the university’s evolving needs.
This transition will occur in phases beginning this spring. Each migration will be carefully coordinated to minimize operational disruption, and campus partners will be engaged early to support scheduling, planning, and functional validation. Stakeholders will receive regular updates as migration planning progresses, and a project webpage will go live later this spring to provide further information.
UITS will work closely with colleges and divisions to minimize the impact of each migration. Updates will be shared in advance as preparations begin for future migration waves.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact officeofthecio@kennesaw.edu.
Thank you for your partnership as we strengthen the technology that supports KSU’s operations and services.
