    The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program is designed to facilitate long-term research involving large teams of faculty/staff members and students. The students gain valuable research skills and academic credit through their participation, and faculty are able to scale up their research through the framework provided by VIP. In the initial year, the Office of Undergraduate Research will provide each team with $5,000 in seed money to launch their VIP team.

    Applications open for the Summer Undergraduate Research Program 2026

    The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is proud of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program, which helps support students in full-time research endeavors during the 8-week summer session.

    Selected students will conduct research under the guidance of a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty member (Primary Investigator [PI]) at Kennesaw State University. Faculty and students will be paid a stipend in order to work collaboratively full-time on a research project.

      Posters at the Georgia State Capitol is an annual event in Atlanta, Georgia in which undergraduate researchers from schools in Georgia present their research as posters to state legislators and staffers. Undergraduates at Kennesaw State University who are working on research are strongly encouraged to submit an application. 

       

      Who Should Apply: Undergraduate researchers from ALL disciplines who are currently enrolled in a public or private college or university located in the state of Georgia.

       

      Recommended Research: Submit a research project that has been accepted and that you have presented within the last two academic years at another conference.

    The Symposium of Student Scholars is a multi-day event designed to showcase student research at Kennesaw State University. All sessions are free and open to the public!

     

    Day 1: Poster Presentations & Visual Displays

    These in-person sessions are 45-minute sessions, which begin at the top of each hour (9:00am-9:45am, 10:00am-10:45am, etc.) Students are assigned numbered spots, where they set up their research presentation and are available to discuss and answer questions to attendees.

    Each college is assigned a designated timeslot, and four (4) presentations are selected by administrators to best represent the scope of research happening within their specific college. These are 50-min sessions. Presenters are allotted 10-mins for their presentation and 2-mins for Q&A after.

    In this interactive session, we will reflect on your research experiences over the past semester or year, including what skills you've developed, how you felt about your research experience, how the research experience connects to career readiness, what your next steps will be, and more. For this session, please be on a computer rather than a phone, as you'll need to type answers to questions and submit the type-written responses at the end of the session.
