Planning Your Visit

Library Locations & Hours

KSU Library Hours: Library hours vary throughout the semester, especially during breaks and holidays. View our current hours and holiday schedule for up-to-date information.

Locations: KSU has a library on both campuses.

Visitor Parking

Visitors should park in designated visitor lots to avoid citations.

Dining and Amenities

Food/Drink: Covered drinks and snacks are allowed. Vending machines are located on the ground floor.

Nearby campus amenities include:

  • Dining locations within walking distance
  • Vending machines in adjacent campus buildings
  • Coffee shops on or near each campus
  • ATMs located on campus (not inside the library)

Accessibility: Both libraries are ADA-compliant with elevators and accessible workstations. Please ask at the front desk if you require assistance retrieving books.

Internet & Computer Access

Guest Wi-Fi (KSU Guest)

Free Wi-Fi is available daily from 6:00 AM – Midnight.

How to Connect

  1. Select KSU Guest in your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Enter the passphrase: kennesaw (all lowercase).
  3. In your browser, open the KSU Guest Wi-Fi Portal.
  4. Select “Click here to create a temporary guest account.”
  5. Complete the registration form and agree to the terms.
  6. Check your email and SMS for your temporary credentials.
  7. Log in and create a new password when prompted.

Guest Computers

Each library provides one dedicated guest computer with a 2-hour limit.

  • Logon: No credentials required.
  • Database Access: Guests can access most KSU-subscribed databases and e-books only while on the guest computer.
  • Software: Standard web browsers and Microsoft applications are available
  • For SuperSearch and most databases that authenticate through OpenAthens

    1. Go to the OpenAthens logon page
      • Username: kenneLibraryGuest 
      • Password: KSU,LibSystem2
    2. Open a new tab in the same browser so the system keeps you logged in
    3. Go to the library homepage to search using the SuperSearch search bar to search for ebooks or databases
    4. To go to an individual database visit the Find a Database page 

    For any databases that authenticate with EZProxy (you don’t get the OpenAthens login page):

    1. Click on the database link from the Find a Database page
    2. In the URL address bar at the top of the webpage, remove all of the EZProxy information before the address of the database.
      • Remove https://login.proxy.kennesaw.edu/login?url= from the URL

    Example: To access the CQ Supreme Court Yearbook

    •  Modify the original URL https://login.proxy.kennesaw.edu/login?url=http://library.cqpress.com/scyb
    • This will leave http://library.cqpress.com/scyb which will allow you to access the database

Printing, Copying and Scanning

Guest Card for Printing

  • Guests must use a KCash Guest Card for all printing and copying.
  • Purchase a Guest Card for $2.00 at a KCash machine (located near the printers) before attempting to print.
  • KCash Machines accept $1, $5, and $10 bills (no change given) or Credit/Debit ($5 minimum).
  • Library staff cannot issue refunds. Refunds for printing errors must be requested through KSU Printing Services.

Printing Instructions

  1. Log on to the guest computer.
  2. Select Guest-Print-BW ($0.12 per side) or Guest-Print-Color ($0.56 per side)
    • Note: Sturgis Library offers black & white printing only.
  3. Enter the number on the back of your Guest Card. Leave the password field blank.
  4. Go to the printer.
  5. Swipe your Guest Card.
  6. Select your print job(s) and press Print.
  7. Swipe your card again to log out.

Scanning

Each library provides one scanning station for guest use at no cost.

Borrowing Options

Community Borrower Cards

While anyone can browse our shelves, taking items home requires a card.

How to Apply: Georgia residents (18+) can apply for a Community Borrower's card at the Check Out desk with a valid GA ID.

Access Your Library Account: Community borrowers receive login credentials when their card is issued.

Remote access to databases is not available due to licensing restrictions.

Interlibrary Borrowing Services: Ask your local public library about requesting materials through their interlibrary borrowing service.

Library Equipment: Headphones, calculators, laptops, chargers are not available to guests or community borrowers.

Visiting Scholars: Must complete the online request form to have your library account created.

Access Your Library Account
  1. Select the KSU Community Borrowers sign-in
  2. User ID: primary ID number from your community borrower card
  3. Password: If this is your first time logging in, your password will be: changeme (one word and all lowercase).

If your account has expired, you will need to renew it before you are able to log in.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Children are allowed when accompanied by an adult caregiver.

    • A parent or adult caregiver must accompany children and monitor their activities 
    • Children are not allowed to use library computers
    • Library staff cannot attend to unaccompanied or unsupervised children, nor be responsible for their safety
    • When a child is disruptive to other patrons, the adult guardian will be asked to take the child out of the library.
    • If the adult responsible for the child's welfare is not present, a staff member will contact the Department of Public Safety to report the situation. The child may be removed from the library by the proper authorities.
  • Working service animals or those animals in training as service animals are welcome in the library.

    Pets and/or emotional support animals are not permitted in the library.

    For clarification, library staff may ask the following questions of patrons bringing any animal into the library:

    • Is the animal a service animal required because of a disability?
    • What work or tasks has the animal been trained to perform?
  • Food and drink are allowed in most areas of the Sturgis and Johnson Libraries, but please note the following:

    • No food or open drinks around library equipment.
    • No food that have a strong odor or have a distracting sound. 
    • Food deliveries are not allowed in the Library.
    • Discard all trash in waste bins.

    Clean up spills as soon as possible or ask the Check Out Desk if assistance is needed. Contact a library employee for policy inquiries.

  • KSU is a smoke- and tobacco-free university. This means that you cannot have any forms of tobacco anywhere on campus, including in the library. Forms of tobacco include:

    • e-cigarettes or other devices that simulate the use of tobacco
    • cigarettes
    • cigars
    • pipes or other smoking devices like hookahs
    • smokeless tobacco in any form
  • KSU Libraries no longer accepts donations of books or other materials.
  • No, KSU Libraries do not offer faxing services.
