Scheduling Courses

The Schedule of Classes lists all of the classes that are available for registration in a specific term. You must select the term in which you would like to search for classes before proceeding to the class schedule search screen.

Instructional Method Codes

Code Description
F = Fully Online All instruction is delivered via technology. The course does not require students to travel to a classroom for instruction; however, it might require students to travel to a site to attend a course orientation or to take exams. (NOTE: This is generally equivalent to delivering more than 95 percent of sessions via technology.)
P = Predominantly at a distance Technology is used to deliver 51 percent or more of scheduled class sessions, but at least one visit to a classroom (or similar site) for instruction is required.
H = Hybrid Technology is used to deliver 50 percent or less of scheduled class sessions, but at least one class session is replaced by technology.

Section Codes Defined
The section code that follows the course number; i.e. W01, refers to the type of course or instructional method.

Class Schedule Builder

The Class Schedule Builder is an online registration tool that integrates with the Student Information System. It allows you to select your preferred classes and block off time for work, practice, student organizations, and other personal commitments. The Class Schedule Builder will then generate conflict-free scheduling options for you! Simply choose the schedule from the available options that best fits your life and academic goals.


Registrar Terminology

  
The following list explains key terms commonly used by the Office of the Registrar. These definitions are intended to help you better understand academic records, registration processes, and university policies.

  • The 5-digit course registration number specific to the course you are trying to register for
  • You will search for courses by subject abbreviation and course number (ex: ENGL 1101)
  • The specific date and time that you can register for classes
  • A set of academic planning tools that help students and advisors see what courses and requirements students need to graduate.
  • This is your student enrollment hub where you can check your application status, register for classes, view and approve financial aid, and so much more! 
  • Occurs after the registration period is closed. If you withdraw from a class, you will receive no credit and are financially responsible
  • Conditions that must be met PRIOR to register for a course
  • Conditions that must be taken simultaneously when registering for a course
  • If your classes were deleted due to nonpayment, you can request to be reinstated during the specified time to reestablish your classes.
  • There are many sub semesters within Fall, Spring and Summer terms. Each one has its own start date, end date, and deadlines (for registration, withdrawal, refunds, etc.). 
  • Occurs when the registration period is open. If you drop a class, you receive no credit and are not financially responsible for payment.

FAQs

  • You can view your time ticket in Owl Express > Registration> Degree Works
  • Unfortunately, not. Time tickets are based on earned hours and admission type. Once they are assigned, they cannot be changed.
  • You will need to speak with an academic advisor to determine the courses to register for. You can schedule an appointment in Owl Express > Student Services > EAB Navigate (Navigate360) or attend their drop-in sessions.
  • You will need to complete the eCore Introduction Quiz and ensure your KSU email is inputted properly so the attribute can be added to your account. Please allow up to 2 hours for it to be processed.
    • You can see your official schedule in Owl Express > Registration tab > View Registration Information.
    • Course information will be available in D2L Brightspace on the first day of classes.
    • You will access your eCore courses in GoView.
  • Yes, you can review the syllabi for upcoming courses on Simple Syllabus.
    • You can drop courses before and during add/drop to have them removed from your schedule and not be financially responsible for payment.
    • After add/drop, you will have to withdraw from any courses. This means that it will be reflected as a “W” on your academic record and you will be financially responsible for it.
  • There is no limit to how many times you can withdraw from classes. You will need to speak with your financial aid counselor about the impact on your SAP (satisfactory academic progress).
  • Students in fully online programs can register only for fully online classes. Attempting to register for an on‑campus class will result in a campus restriction error. On‑campus students may register for online classes; however, certain online sections are reserved exclusively for students declared in online programs.
