Get Involved with Honors: Opportunities for Faculty

The Keeping Sights Upward Journey Honors College invites inquiries from all interested KSU faculty who want to teach or engage with Honors students. All Honors courses feature small class sizes and provide opportunities for faculty to involve students in collaborative, creative, experiential, or interdisciplinary work that may not be possible in larger classes.

We especially welcome proposals for special topics courses, which allow faculty to focus on an area that is of special interest to them.

Opportunities to Teach with Honors

Faculty may participate in the Honors College in several ways:

  • Teach an honors section of a general education course
  • Supervise a student in your class on an Honors contract
  • Teach a three-credit special topics Honors Interdisciplinary Seminars (HON 3301)
  • Teach a one-credit Honors Colloquium (HON 3000), that typically meets once a week or every other week
  • Teach a five-week Honors Discovery course (HON 2400)
  • Apply to serve as an Honors Faculty Fellow or Honors Lecturer (applications open annually)

These experiences enrich both faculty teaching portfolios and student learning journeys across disciplines.
