Immediate action required: Microsoft Authenticator replaces Duo

KENNESAW, Ga. | Sep 12, 2025

Kennesaw State University has switched to Microsoft Authenticator for multifactor authentication. Duo is no longer in use as of Sept. 3. The change enhances security and streamlines the sign-in process. It also simplifies the self-service password reset process.

You must enroll in Microsoft Authenticator by this date. After Sept. 17, you will lose access until you contact the IT Service Desk. You will also need to verify your identity by video call.

How to enroll?

  1. Go to switchmfa.kennesaw.edu from your computer.
  2. Download Microsoft Authenticator to your phone and register.
  3. No smartphone? Select “I want to set up a different method.” Choose a phone call and enter your personal number. Then, add a second method by choosing 'email' and entering a non-KSU address.
  4. Update your alternate methods for password reset.

The process takes 10 to 15 minutes. Step-by-step guides, FAQs, and a how-to video are on KSU’s Multifactor Authenticator webpage.

Finally, never approve an unexpected prompt or share code with anyone. If you are unsure, stop and call the IT Service Desk. Thank you for taking action. Contact the IT Service Desk with questions.
