Project Description

This project is an interior renovation of the 1996 addition to the Carmichael Student Center, designed to enhance student belonging, connection, and accessibility. The renovation includes new and expanded student commons, updated student hub spaces (workshop areas, offices, meeting rooms), a new game room, second-floor stair and atrium infill, renovated restrooms, and updates to fire alarm and smoke evacuation systems. The total renovated area is approximately 45,000 square feet.

  • The Campus Print Shop and Student Mail Services will relocate their operations to the second floor of the Student Center near the Welcome Center and the KSU Bookstore.  
    • The Student Mail Lockers have been relocated along the left wall of the Welcome Center on the second floor.  
    • There is a new pickup window to the right of the KSU Bookstore lockers for Student Mail and Campus Print Shop orders. 
    • On-campus Amazon Lockers have been discontinued. All Amazon packages will be routed through Student Mail lockers or the pick-up window. 

  • University Rooms will be offline until further notice. 

  • The CARE Services Food Pantry within the Carmichael Student Center is temporarily closed during construction. However, CARE Services is still providing resources to students during this time.
    • The Marietta Food Pantry is open and operating all summer long. For students who are facing genuine barriers to accessing the Marietta pantry, please email pantry@kennesaw.edu and CARE will coordinate a time on a case-by-case basis to provide food pantry items.

  • Starbucks on the first floor of the Student Center will be closed during construction. We invite you to visit our Starbucks at Social Sciences starting Wednesday, June 3, through Tuesday, July 28. This location will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

  • The Game Room on the first floor and The Loft on the third floor of the Carmichael Student Center addition will be closed until the building reopens sometime in Fall 2027.  
  • Lost and Found operations will transition from the Carmichael Student Center Rotunda due to renovation. University Recreation will assume responsibility for Lost and Found beginning Monday, May 18, in the Student Recreation and Activities Center. Large lost and found inventory transfers from other Kennesaw Campus buildings should be held by individual departments until Monday, May 18, when they can be delivered to the Student Recreation and Activities Center. Students with questions about items in Lost and Found should contact studentcenters@kennesaw.edu.

Reservation Portal

Moving & Construction Activity

Between May 18–28, there will be increased activity related to moving and construction surrounding the Carmichael Student Center. The Service Lot behind the Student Center and the Academic Learning Center will be heavily trafficked with moving trucks. There will also be increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Please use caution when traveling near the building during this time.
