KSU Nominees for the GTF Program
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is opening the call to identify the KSU nominees for the Governor’s Teaching Fellows (GTF) Program, hosted by the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia. This program has two distinct pathways. One is an Academic Year Program where over the course of the academic year, Fellows attend six unique three-day workshops while also engaging in a course design/redesign project. The other is a May Symposium where Fellows attend an intense one-week seminar on the University of Georgia campus. The symposium includes a combination of structured faculty development, classroom activities, experimentation with new technologies, and some project-based learning. The May 2026 Symposium will focus on "Where Generative AI Skills and Human Essential Skills Meet in Higher Ed." Faculty can apply for either or both pathways.

Eligibility
The Governor's Teaching Fellows Program is designed for full-time faculty members who teach at accredited public or private colleges or universities in the state of Georgia, other than the University of Georgia. Any full-time faculty member regardless of rank or tenure-status may apply. Please note that preference will be given to faculty who teach undergraduate students. Fellows are selected based on:
- Commitment to undergraduate teaching - e.g., how they have improved their teaching practices and how they would like to enhance their teaching and professional development.
- Academic Leadership - e.g., their experience in leading initiatives, mentoring faculty or students, developing programs, or contributing to institutional change.
- A letter of support from their institution's President or Vice President/ Provost of Academic Affairs (or equivalent) - this is part of the KSU internal application process below.
Over the course of the academic year, Fellows attend six unique three-day seminars while also engaging in a course design/redesign project. The highly interactive seminars, which are held on the University of Georgia campus, focus on teaching practices, emerging technologies in teaching, research on teaching and learning, as well as faculty development and leadership. Selected fellows will receive hotel accommodations for two nights, breakfast at the hotel, one catered lunch in Meigs Hall, and a modest per diem stipend for two dinners. The program does not cover transportation costs.

- October 7-9, 2026
- November 4-6, 2026
- February 3-5, 2027
- March 3-5, 2027
- April 7-9, 2027
Fellows attend an intense one-week seminar on the University of Georgia campus. The symposium includes a combination of structured faculty development, classroom activities, experimentation with new technologies, and some project-based learning. The May 2026 Symposium will focus on "Where Generative AI Skills and Human Essential Skills Meet in Higher Ed." Generative AI is becoming more common in higher ed, and society is increasingly looking to AI as the answer. At the other end of the spectrum are those who urge us to keep the human in the loop, reminding us that teaching and learning are still highly personalized and humanistic experiences. Faculty need to find the space where essential human skills meet AI to make the most of both approaches in their teaching and learning.
Selected fellows will receive hotel accommodations for five nights, breakfast at the hotel, catered lunches in Meigs Hall, and a modest per diem stipen for dinners and meals during the program. The program does not cover transportation costs.

Deadline for KSU applicants to submit their nomination materials through the InfoReady system linked at the end of this page. KSU applicants can apply for both the Academic Year Symposium and the May Symposium through the same link. Applicants can apply for one or both opportunities. The following materials are needed for each:Academic Year Symposium will require the following PDF materials:
- General demographic information about yourself and your classes (PDF)
- A statement explaining your interest in attending the Academic Year GTF Program (300-word maximum, PDF)
- A teaching statement with concrete examples of how your teaching is innovative and how you hope to improve it (300-word maximum, PDF)
- A description of your academic leadership, e.g., your experience leading initiatives, mentoring faculty or students, developing programs, or contributing to institutional change (300-word maximum).
- Current CV (PDF)
- A concise description of the course you propose to redesign during the academic year. The program administers believe Fellows will reap the most benefit from the program by redesigning a course, but you may propose another project if you wish. (300-word maximum, PDF)
May Symposium will require the following PDF materials
- General demographic information about yourself and your classes (PDF)
- A statement explaining your interest in the topic of the May program (300-word maximum, PDF). Please note that the topic of the May program may change from year to year.
- A teaching statement with concrete examples of how your teaching is innovative and how you hope to improve it (300-word maximum, PDF).
- A description of your academic leadership, e.g., your experience leading initiatives, mentoring faculty or students, developing programs, or contributing to institutional change (300-word maximum).
- Current CV (PDF)
If you are applying for both opportunities, you will be asked to upload a teaching statement twice. It is up to the applicant if they wish to upload the same document or if they want their teaching statement to reflect the different foci of each opportunity in their statement.
After you submit your materials, your chair will receive a notification to review your application. They will be required to indicate why the applicant would be a great Governor's Teaching Fellow. Please make sure your chair is aware that this notification will come from Christina Ujj/InfoReady. They have until December 4 to submit your recommendation.

Applicants will receive an update from CETL on the status of their application by this date.January 14, 2026:
Applicants selected to serve as KSU's nominees will receive a letter of support from the Provost to submit with their final application. The final application is due January 19, 2026. Please keep in mind that January 19 is a holiday (offices are closed), so we recommend submitting your application prior to that day. -
