Call for Applications
CETL is seeking to hire a Faculty Fellow for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). This fellowship will play an essential role in realizing the KSU strategic goal 1.4.2 “Become a leader in the scholarship of teaching and learning.” The CETL Fellow will work to develop and support faculty at KSU in pursuing research on their teaching with the goal of improving the success of students and contributing to the SoTL field.
At CETL, we have an established SoTL team with international recognition. This fellowship is an opportunity to be mentored by this team while supporting a culture of SoTL at KSU. Successful candidates for the position will be effective SoTL practitioners who are passionate about SoTL and want to broaden their impact and knowledge base. The fellow will work closely with the Associate Director for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and other CETL staff to assist in the development, administration and assessment of programs related to the fellowship. The fellow will have some discretion in conceptualizing the position, based on their expertise and interests, however, some of the expected roles would include the ones below:
- Consult with faculty to provide voluntary, confidential, and constructive guidance to promote SoTL
- Disseminate evidence-based practices for SoTL through programming such as workshops, webinars, book chats, book clubs, and writing groups
- Develop and support resources and materials to sustain and expand SoTL at KSU
- Support key SoTL programs such as the SoTL Summit, SoTL Manuscript Completion Program, Conference Presentation Funds, SoTL Course Redesign Institute, and the KSU SoTL Scaffold
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on campus, e.g., Office of Research, University Libraries
In addition to programs and initiatives specific to the Fellowship, the fellow will attend and contribute to CETL staff meetings and strategic initiatives (e.g., orientations, conferences, and institutes). Producing scholarship in the area of the fellowship is also a possibility though not a requirement.
The fellowship is structured as a 50% workload reassignment. This workload reassignment is negotiated as a combination of course release time from teaching and reduced or realigned service and research activity in their academic department. Fellows are provided office space at CETL and are expected to work from CETL two days per week. The Fellow will continue to draw their regular salary. While fellows do not receive a stipend for the fellowship during the academic year, funds are available for departments to offset their courses with part-time instructors through the part-time faculty pool. The CETL Associate Director for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning reviews the Fellow’s performance in the context of their Fellowship activities during each year of their term and provides an assessment to the academic Chair to include in the Fellow’s annual review process.
Fellowship Term
The Fellowship will start July 1, 2026, and includes a summer stipend*. The duration
of the fellowship is
one year, renewable for a second year contingent on the productivity of the first
year, continued
availability of funding, and programmatic needs.
*Summer compensation counts towards the 33.33% maximum per faculty member. Overages may not be shifted to development funds in the future.
Eligibility

Required Qualifications:
- Established record of SoTL scholarship
