Kennesaw State University has named Dr. Sierra Turner as Associate Vice President for Engagement, a key leadership role within the Division of Student Affairs focused on advancing student success through intentional, innovative, and responsive engagement initiatives. 

Dr. Turner brings a wealth of experience in student engagement, leadership development, and institutional strategy to this position. She most recently served as the Executive Director of Student Engagement and Support at KSU, where she oversaw programs and services designed to support student engagement, satisfaction, and success.  

In her new role, Dr. Turner will provide strategic oversight for a comprehensive portfolio that includes the FLIGHT program, student support hubs, Student Activities, Student Leadership, and Parent and Family Programs. As Associate Vice President, she will lead teams for developing initiatives that foster student development and respond to the evolving needs of KSU’s student population.  

Dr. Turner’s career reflects a commitment to student-centered leadership. Prior to her time at KSU, she served in senior roles at Florida State University and the University of Montevallo, and in coordinator roles at the University of Alabama. Dr. Turner also has teaching experience ranging from Spanish and LatinX studies to Education and Leadership Studies.  

Dr. Turner holds a Ph. D. in educational leadership from the University of Alabama, a Master of Education in instructional design & development from the University of Georgia, a Master of Science in modern languages and classics (Spanish) from the University of Alabama, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and Spanish from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.  

As KSU continues to grow as one of the nation’s largest public institutions, Dr. Turner’s depth of experience, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to measurable outcomes allow her to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of student engagement. Her appointment reinforces KSU’s dedication to creating impactful programs and environments that empower students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
