Highlights of the Role
While on the job, Gibson was open to a variety of tasks. One of her favorite experiences was designing the alumni homecoming tailgate credential. “I got to do a gold design, and I got to design a lanyard,” Gibson said. “I designed a little logo for last year’s homecoming, and I’m very proud of it.”
An Artistic Experience
Gibson details how the job itself will shape her future dream career. This also ties into the help of many of her supportive peers and her manager, Savannah Lockman, at the Office of Alumni.
Her overall goal is to design a variety of projects that she will then add to her portfolio, which is essential. Gibson is able to observe how people work within the office by attending meetings where she gets a first-hand glimpse of collaboration, professionalism, and productivity within the department.
Final Note & Advice
Gibson shares insights on how others can pursue and achieve a journey like theirs, so they can build their own experiences. “The advice that I'd give fellow Owls for working on campus is to prepare for your interview,” Gibson said. In preparation, she made her resume, printed out pieces that she designed, presenting her creative work process.

In addition to that, she expressed her passion and enthusiasm for the job or future job. “If you’re very passionate and you want the job and you’re eager to learn, people will love to work with you,” Gibson says.
