Dr. Porntip Israsena Twishime, Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies

Dr. Porntip (Ploy) Israsena Twishime (she/they) is a storyteller and performance scholar. Her teaching and research draw upon the political and theoretical traditions of Asian American cultural production and literature, queer and feminist of color critique, and performance studies. Prior to joining the faculty at KSU, Dr. Ploy was a Pauline Scheer’s Fellow at GrubStreet Creative Writing Center in Boston and held academic appointments at Northeastern University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She earned her PhD in Communication with an emphasis in Performance Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Feminist Studies from the Department of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
