2026 Hackathon for Social Good

A collaboration between the College of Computing and Software Engineering (CCSE) and the KSU Office of Sustainability, this year's Hackathon for Social Good is a celebration of environmental protection. From proposing AI-powered solutions that reduce waste to ensuring cybersecurity in renewable energy infrastructure, student teams will take on sustainability challenges that keep our planet clean and green.

Running from Thursday, March 19 - Saturday, March 21, the weekend innovation sprint is among CCSE's premier events to showcase student talent and connect companies to our students. Through dedicated "threads" (aka themes) within the event, companies can raise awareness of opportunities for students to work with them, increase brand awareness, and locate top talent for the computing workforce. Students can hone their skills; apply the knowledge they gain inside the classroom to solve real-world problems; and connect with internship and job opportunities.

Benefits for Students

Collaborate with friends, meet new people, strengthen your skills, connect with companies, and see what you can build… all within one weekend. This hackathon will strengthen your resume, challenge you with real-world scenarios, and let you connect with employers for possible internships, part-time and full-time job opportunities.

The Hackathon For Social Good is open to all KSU students. For students who do not already have a team, don't worry! We will pair you with a team based on your strengths.

The Hackathon For Social Good will run from Thursday, March 19 - Saturday, March 21.

Benefits for Industry Partners

Rajesh Indurthi of Charter Global speaks with students during the awards presentation for the Spring Hackathon for Social Good 2025.

The Hackathon For Social Good opens doors for you to meet the best and brightest CCSE students.

As an industry partner, you will challenge student teams with difficult, real-world problems that your company wants to solve. If you'd like, you can support multiple challenges.

Throughout the weekend, you will mentor teams, each up to three students, as they navigate the brainstorming and build for their new product.

Student teams reflect each of the computing disciplines - Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science and Analytics, Game Design and Development, Information Technology, Software Engineering, and fellow KSU majors outside of CCSE. We aim to balance each team with many different skillsets so that your challenge gets the best results.
