The concert begins with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, performed by the KSU Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Nathaniel F. Parker. The orchestra will also present John Williams’s Superman March, a work that brings a vibrant and familiar energy to the program.

The Summit Piano Trio, featuring professors Helen Kim, Charae Krueger, and Robert Henry, will perform Astor Piazzolla’s Invierno Porteño from Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas. The trio recently returned from a celebrated performance at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in December.

A featured percussion work, Fleet by Cameron Brown, highlights marimba soloist Allister Simpson, along with performers Drew Carson, Jake Donehoo, Austin Kramer, and Darrius Patterson. The program also includes the Traditional Sesotho selection Tshela Moya/Ke nna yo Morena, arranged by Michael Barrett. This performance comes just after the Chamber Singers’ return from an international tour in Spain, an important milestone that reflects the ensemble’s continued work as ambassadors of the Bailey School of Music.

The concert also features a dynamic set of jazz performances that highlight the versatility of BSOM students and the strength of the jazz program. The ensemble of Hector Rosellon on tenor saxophone, Jack Flynn on trumpet, Leo Font on bass, and Julian Houston on drums will present Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart’s I Didn’t Know What Time It Was along with Wayne Shorter’s Ping Pong. These selections showcase both classic American songwriting and contemporary innovation, reflecting the breadth of musical language embraced at the Bailey School of Music. The jazz artists bring an exciting rhythmic contrast to the evening and contribute to the program’s hallmark sense of variety.

After intermission, the Chamber Singers return with Hoagy Carmichael’s Georgia on My Mind, arranged by René Clausen and featuring pianist Tyrone Jackson.

The remainder of the program includes Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzon Duodecimi Toni, performed by the KSU Wind Ensemble under the direction of David Kehler, as well as John Mackey’s Kingfishers Catch Fire, which brings the concert to a brilliant and spirited close. Additional performances include the beloved Flower Duet from Léo Delibes’s Lakmé and selections from the Great American Songbook and modern jazz repertoire.

The Collage Concert remains one of the most anticipated annual events of the Bailey School of Music. Its seamless presentation and celebration of artistic range create a memorable experience for audiences and performers alike.
